The pop-country sensation takes her beautiful image up a notch in the March issue, posing for the glossy in a red-hot Rebecca Taylor dress that zips up the front.But on the inside pages Underwood is still the American Idol sweetheart that we've grown to love, talking about how she balances work and life, her new fiance, NHL player Mike Fisher, and how she wouldn't even know how to be a snooty celebrity if she tried.
"An Oklahoma girl like me wouldn’t even know how to be a diva,” she explains. “I’m just a person who has a cool job. I love to be at home. I rarely go to clubs…and I always wear underwear! I just know I’d fall down, and that’s not for everyone to see.”
As for her new album, Play On, the 26-year-old says her husband-to-be gave her plenty to work with. "He provided a lot of inspiration for songs," Underwood said of Fisher, who proposed over the holidays, "Whether it was something he said or just by being supportive.”
Looking ahead, the Grammy winner says she's ready to make sure her professional success coincides with a satisfying personal life. "I didn’t want to be one of those people who has an amazing career but ends up alone and unhappy. I want to be happy. I want it all.”
