Louise Glover, 26, formerly of Essex, was convicted of attacking Maxine Hardcastle, in Brighton in 2007, following a trial at Hove Crown Court.
She was sentenced to 30 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, and 180 hours of unpaid community work.
Judge Charles Kemp described it as a "vicious and unprovoked attack".
